South Philly High Attacks

I don't really know why I haven't addressed this issue-- its been going on for weeks now.
The media is having a ball with it. A flaming, merciless ball.

So I apologize.

I've been following this story all the way through, actually, ever since the first article, debating on whether to ignore it or not.

From what I understand, a bunch of African American teens decided to "rough" it up with a bunch of Asian teens that either immigrated or are study abroad'ing here. The parents and their lawyers are planning to sue the state/district/every authority. Racism abound!

I was quite skeptical about the "omg colour" issue, since the media just loves to spin stories like this out of control. ("Hell-looo, Hearst!") Racist attacks in schools are common enough.

It wasn't until today, when a situation came to my attention, that I decided to go ahead and post this review, with the limited time I have. (So I apologize for the horrible pre-beta quality.)

In Northeast High, I've never expected a racist fight-- we're quite docile, aside from the occasional once-or-twice-a-year testosterone-induced brawls. Until today. An Asian sophomore was punched in his abdomen while on the way to his next class.

The perpetrator? An African-American male, who didn't even know said Asian. He was quickly apprehended, and the victim ended up with an ice-pack on his bruised stomach. The one question through our minds: "Why?"

I can't think of any other reason but racism.

So-- the South Philly racist situations were boiling to a seeable end.. but have they merely migrated North? We shall see.
